IMPLEMENTATION
-
SUSTAINABLE FASHION
To build and support an engaged, proactive fashion community in Camden Town which is keen to explore both their own processes and their upstream operations. Businesses who want to address current overproduction and engage effectively with local communities using fashion and upcycling as a way to communicate climate messaging and change behaviours.
-
CLOSED-LOOP RECYCLING
Build a partnership with a Camden Town fashion business to explore ways to cut carbon footprint. Depending on the practices and areas for improvement the focus may be on using more recycled materials, cutting transportation or
-
COMPANY-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Work with company to trial a scheme of recycling local textiles in to their clothing range. Open a scheme of reselling or donating clothes from old collections, whilst exploring 100% recycled materials for new clothing.
-
SUSTAINABLE HOSPITALITY
Food production and restaurants have a complex carbon footprint due to the spread of their activities. Whilst food production accounts for 8-10% of the worlds greenhouse emissions, one third of the world’s food supply is not eaten. We can help restaurants build new approaches which simultaneously gain them positive press coverage and improved reputations.
-
SUSTAINABLE FOODIE NETWORK
Work to develop zero food waste blueprints, linking restaurants with local community groups who can put the food to use, or implementing new processes that avoid waste. Facilitate restaurants sourcing local, seasonal ingredients and increasing plant-based options. Link restaurants up to get good deals on compostable packaging.
-
LOCAL, SEASONAL & DATA-DRIVEN
Partner with one restaurant to implement customised trials. Key partnerships could be Kentish Town City Farm, Sainsbury’s and local food banks. Consultants may help to develop seasonal menus, with carbon footprint being assessed by a tool such as Bon Pour Le Climat.
-
SUSTAINABLE WORKSPACES
Several major coworking space providers operate in Camden Town. Small startups are often conscious of their environmental responsibilities and agile enough to make changes in response to climate developments. However, they may face financial limitations and elements may be beyond their control when sharing a large managed space.
-
SUSTAINABLE COLLECTIVE
Use Camden Collective to implement some innovative or standard-setting measures to limit impact of the building on the environment. Make use of business expertise where possible and promote the change in processes as a new milestone in Collective’s lifespan.
-
COLLECTIVE AUCTION ROOMS
Audit Collective members and do an open call for project ideas such as shared food allotments, textile upcycling and green infrastructure. Ask businesses and employees to sign pledges and make public commitments to creating a more sustainable Camden Collective.
