Building the plan.
How the plan was build in collaboration with Camden Town & Euston businesses in the wider context of local activities, partners and objectives.
The Plan
We have crafted a set of priorities under each theme which are fairly broad and have the intention of building resilience, empowering the business community and filling gaps that exist in climate action. Each priority is matched with a project proposal which is built in collaboration with business members, or aligned with projects being implemented on the Green Loop.
Engagement has included interviews and questionnaires filled in by local businesses which are intentionally a fair representation of the sectors in Camden Town and Euston. Drafts have been shared with businesses and academics, leading to a final version which satisfied both perspectives. The plan is intended to be both realistic in terms of what we are asking of our business members, and ambitious in our commitment to empowering the community to make real tangible change and create blueprints for other neighbourhoods.
Targets
We aim to have businesses sign up to the Green Loop Climate Plan as a pledge to align with its priorities and actively seek more sustainable processes. An initial assessment by our partners at the Camden Climate Change Alliance will give a baseline of their current performance and indicate areas that need urgent attention. They commit to trial new and imaginative initiatives, with support from the CTU group and partners.
This is a five year plan, but will be constantly reviewed with project proposals and case studies updated to remain reactive to local and global developments and research.
Every project implemented within the Green Loop will be considered through the Green Loop Climate Plan lens.
Partnerships
The Green Loop Climate Plan only works as a collaborative effort, with its essence being in building collective resilience and knowledge sharing. We are working with the following partners to implement projects and seek new delivery partners who can bring fresh perspectives and expertise:
Camden Clean Air Initiative
Camden Climate Change Alliance
Cross River Partnership
UCL
Camden Climate Action Plan
The Camden Climate Action Plan is a strategy built with local stakeholders who helped build project proposals.
The Green Loop Climate Plan intends to fully complement it, with the Camden Climate Change Alliance being a key partner. The vitality and life of our neighbourhoods depends on our businesses, and they should be fully supported in making the changes to more sustainable models. This will be successful if they are able to continue thriving.
